The Woodbridge High School Performing Arts Complex in Irvine, California features a 650-seat theater designed to deliver exceptional acoustics for both performers and audiences. Central to the theater’s performance are Kinetics Ovation overhead reflectors and MidTones quadratic residue diffusers, working together to shape how sound travels through the space
Ovation reflectors, suspended overhead in a bold Red Scarlet gloss gel-coat finish, are designed and shaped to control the directivity, strength, and timing of sound from the stage to the audience. The panels ship flat and are bowed to the specified curvature in the field using integrated hardware. Ovations are available in a variety of finishes including gel coat, plastic laminate, or wood veneer.
On the rear wall, solid cherry wood MidTones diffusers scatter mid-frequency sound energy, preventing reflections from returning to the stage while improving overall acoustic balance in the room.
Designed by SVA Architects, the 36,000-square-foot complex supports Woodbridge High School’s nationally recognized music program and serves as a versatile venue for student and community performances. Acoustical consulting was provided by Acoustical Engineering Services, with installation by Elljay Acoustics.
